Two people arrested for abalone possession

Two people have been arrested during one of the biggest abalone busts in Cape Town this year.

Police spokesperson, André Traut, says abalone and processing equipment worth about R10 million was seized during an unplanned inspection at a house in Mowbray.

He says two suspects a man and woman both in their 30s were arrested in Strubends road Mowbray.

He says: ‘They phoned police about a robbery at their house by seven men, when police investigated, they came across the abalone processing facility and arrested the suspects.”

The two suspects will appear in the Wynberg court on Monday.
