Two people have been killed after they jumped out of a moving vehicle at Bismarck village outside Tzaneen in Limpopo. Three others sustained serious injuries after they also jumped out of the same vehicle.
According to Colonel Hanyane Mathebula, the five passengers, comprising two women and three men, had hitchhiked a ride from a white bakkie that was driven by an unknown man from Metz to Bismatck.
It is alleged that the driver was speeding and did not stop when the hitchhikers arrived at their destination.
The two women, aged 26, were declared dead when paramedics arrived at the scene. Three other passengers, aged between 19 and 21, were rushed to hospital.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and looking for the driver.
