Two Cape Town officers wounded in Philippi die in hospital

Two law enforcement officers from the City of Cape Town, who were shot and wounded on Wednesday afternoon in Philippi, have died in hospital.

They were on duty in Sweet Homes where they were protecting a city contractor from attacks when they came under fire from unknown suspects.

The contractor was delivering City services in the area when they were shot at. The wounded officials were airlifted to hospital after the attack.

Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato has called on the police to leave no stone unturned in arresting the attackers. Plato has also expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
