Two bust for money laundering

Two suspects arrested for money laundering and theft, after they were found in possession of more than R2 million at the Vioolsdrift border gate in the Northern Cape, will remain in custody until their next court appearance.

Chen Dangygin, a Chinese citizen and Jemin Stanraus, a Namibian citizen, were allegedly en route from Namibia to Cape Town.

Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi says, “The two suspects were caught crossing over to South Africa with a large amount of money approximately R2 million and stolen property.”

“The duo appeared in springbok magistrate court ON Friday, 15 February 2018 and they were both charged for money laundering and stolen property. They both remain in custody while anticipating on their next appearance on 19 February 2018,” says Mnisi.
