Eastern Cape police have arrested two armed robbery suspects following a shootout with police in Mthatha.

It is alleged they were caught while trying to rob a shop in Mthatha.

Police have launched a manhunt for the third suspects who fled the scene.

Police spokesperson Mzukisi Fatyela says three suspects entered the shop and demanded money at gunpoint.

Police were informed immediately and arrived at the scene.

He says there was a shootout between the police and the robbers and one suspect was shot and injured and was rushed to hospital.

Two fire arms were recovered and the money that was also robbed was recovered.
