An Eastern Cape based SABC Public Broadcasting Service  Tru FM and its Drive Time host Luyanda Gidane won big at the Eastern Cape Entertainment Stars Awards held last week Friday. The station won the Best Radio Programme Award for its LPL 326 EC (afternoon drive show).

Luyanda Gidane scooped the Best Radio Presenter Award. This is not the first award for the show, as they previously won at the Liberty Radio Awards. The drive time host says this success is a result of team effort.

“It shows that hard work pays off and definitely it’s not a one man show. It’s a success of the whole team of the LPL 326 EC, and then on my side as the Best Radio Presenter it feels good when you get such acknowledgement from your peers, especially the radio heads in the industry and it says that keep on going and I must work hard going forward,” said Luyanda Gidane.

Tru FM’s Acting Station Manager, Masixole Mdingane believes these awards are a true validation of all their hard work.

“Winning these awards for us is the testament of the calibre of talent that we have in the programming output and also the content that we put on air. It means it’s great for the station. It’s a validation for the efforts that we put on air. Those efforts are being recognised,” Masixole Mdingane explained.
