Trollip unfazed by EFF’s motion of no confidence

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip says he’s unfazed by Economic Freedom Fighters planned motion of no confidence in him.

The EFF plans to table the motion on April 6 in an effort to punish the DA for refusing to vote with the EFF in Parliament.

This was during a debate on the motion of expropriation land without compensation.

Trollip says the DA doesn’t have a problem with becoming an opposition party in the metro.

“If the EFF wants to hand the city back to the African National Congress it would be a travesty of the democratic wishes as far as I am concerned. We’re the biggest party. We got 47%. The next biggest party got 41% and the EFF, I don’t even know, they got 4%. So, this is a classic case of the EFF where the tail wants to wag the dog and if they do that it might have short-term benefits for them. But in the long term, people will understand what this is all about and will come back harder.”
