Tributes are pouring in for the journalist and poet Sandile Dikeni. The 53-year-old died in Cape Town following a long battle with tuberculosis.
Convener for the SA National Editors Forum (SANEF) in the Western Cape, Janet Heard, says Dikeni played a big role in reflecting the state of the country.
“The news of his untimely death shocked many in the media fraternity shortly after the burial of seasoned broadcaster Xolani Gwala this weekend. Dikeni’s friends remember him as a journalist who reflected South Africa’s anti-Apartheid struggle, who went on to write about the country’s difficult transition into democracy, working with the TRC and bore witness to all that remained and what must still be resolved.”
