Tourism KZN happy with influx of visitors over Durban July

The Durban July weekend has seen an influx of thousands visitors to KwaZulu-Natal. Tourism KwaZulu-Natal is pleased with the amount of visitors over the July weekend and expects a boost to the economy.

This year’s mid-year tourism season has also seen an increase in township tourism.  The Durban July is a major tourist attraction for the province.

Tourism KwaZulu-Natal expects at least 100 000 more visitors over the July period.

Visitors are expected at hot spots such as the Nelson Mandela Capture site and the Durban golden mile.

The influx of visitors is seen a boost to the economy.

Acting General Manager of Marketing for Tourism KZN, Keith Matthews says: “The Vodacom July assists in terms of us reaching this mandate at this point in time. Our hotels are fully booked along the promenade. There’re lots of activities -people enjoying the beach. We’re known for our beautiful weather.”

Tourists soaked up the Durban atmosphere.

“Durban is a nice city. We’re actually having fun with my girls. We are enjoying Durban and people from Durban are friendly,” says a tourist.

“It is nice. There is a vibe flowing everything. It is just flowing, it’s easy. We get from point A to B it’s just happening,” says another tourist.

With school holiday coming to an end next Monday more visitors are expected in KwaZulu-Natal.
