Tourism KZN expects flood of winter holidaymakers

More than 650 000 domestic and international tourists are expected to descend on KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) over the winter holidays.

Tourism KZN says many hotels, especially those along the coast, are already welcoming large number of guests.

General Manager, of Tourism KZN, Thulisile Galelekile says the tourists will contribute more than R1.7 billion to the province’s economy.

Galelekile says the province is more than prepared to cater for the thousands of tourists over the next few weeks.

“In terms of the estimation for June and and July, we’re are expecting R1.7 billion that is going to come through from both domestic and international tourists. Domestic tourists alone, we are expecting that they are going to give us contribution of close to R900 million. So it’s quite a significant contribution that it does to our GDP and economy.”
