Security is expected to be beefed up in and around the High Court in Mahikeng sitting in Mogwase in the North West, where the trial of 14 Marikana residents is expected to resume.

The suspects, including community activist Napoleon Webster, are facing murder charges following the death of Petrus Sabata.

The deceased was hacked with knives and spears in 2014 during unrest in the area.

Sabata, who was a supply chain manager of the RDP housing project, was accused of allocating new houses to non-residents.

The accused later marched to the local police station, and allegedly threatened to kill police officials if they continued to go to their residences.
