The boys, aged between 7 and 15 died at the near-by hospital. Two other children are recovering in the Mokopane hospital.

It’s believed the five children had gone to play soccer when they picked up the snacks and ate them.

Seven year-old Paballo Selota and ten year-old Memeza Mulaudzi were rushed to hospital after they started vomiting.

They died after they were admitted to hospital.

15 year-old Tshepo Tlou was also rushed to hospital where he succumbed to death on Sunday morning.

Devastated parents want answers.

Maria Mulaudzi, Memeza’s mother shares of her grief: “He came home at six in the evening, and went straight to bed. He later woke up sweating and his temperature was shooting up. We rushed him to the hospital. He started vomiting on the way . He died at the hospital.”

Solomon Ledwaba, Paballo’s father: “I suspected this boy ate poison, and took him to hospital. At the hospital they asked him if he kept pesticides or rat poison at home.”

Community leaders are calling for an investigation.

Community leader, Jabu Mashamaite: “Let the investigation take place so that we get to the bottom of these things…  no stone must be left unturned. We must know what really happened to these kids. Remember South Africa is facing a dilemma when kids are dying… there was the Soshanguve five who were buried on Saturday, we had the Thabazimbi three burned inside their shack, now we have this situation here in Mokopane.”

Police are waiting for the autopsy results.
