Three bus crashes reported in KZN

Two people have died and more than 100 have been injured in three separate bus crashes in KwaZulu-Natal. Provincial Emergency Rescue Services Spokesperson, Robert McKenzie, says two people died and 54 were injured in a bus crash on the N2 at Candover near oPhongolo in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

In another incident, 11 people were injured when a bus rolled down an embankment near Tongaat, north of Durban.

McKenzie says at Izingolweni in the south of KwaZulu-Natal,  44 people were injured in yet another crash .

Paramedics across KZN had a busy afternoon responding to three separate bus crashes which have occurred, the one occurred on the N2 Candova and it involves a bus and a truck and over 44 patients were involved. The separate crash is near Tongaat and 11 people have been injured and a crash near Ezingolweni. Paramedics have treated over 40 patients. The cause of these accidents are unknown at this stage.”

On Monday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision on an unnamed road in Dumezulu on the KZN South Coast.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a bus lost control resulting in a rollover.

A total of 39 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

A helicopter Air Ambulance was called to airlift the most serious patients.

All the injured were treated on scene and transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.

All necessary authorities were on scene to investigate.
