Reading Time: 2 minutes

What started off as a plea for R10 electricity on Twitter, escalated to over R3 000 worth of electricity as Twitter users opened their hearts and wallets to Khayelitsha mom Thabisa Xhelithole to buy electricity.

Xhelithole says she decide to use the social media tool to ask for help from strangers after she was unable to cook porridge for her baby on a icy Sunday because she didn’t have electricity.

According to Xhelithole, she is still continuing to receive donation from people as far as Canada.

The 33-years-old mother from Khayelitsha shared her meter number on Twitter, appealing for people to buy her R10 electricity.

This act of kindness has warmed many hearts and put smiles on many faces on both Facebook and Twitter.

Xhelithole says she’ll use some of the money to buy other necessities to help her throughout the month.
