Telkom Knockout quarterfinals to set high standard

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout are set to produce fireworks as teams, some of whom are languishing in the relegation zone, have managed to stay on.

The matches will be played this weekend.

If you thought last season’s Telkom Knockout was interesting, think again. The current season’s tournament is full of drama and intrigue.

Despite teams getting ready for the last eight showdown it’s, however, difficult even for the bookies to pick the winner.

Baroka F.C, who was relegation candidates last season, tops the log this season. “Bakgaga” will face the struggling defending champions Bidvest Wits in a highlight match that will be broadcast on SABC.

Baroka coach Kgoloko Thobejane says he is the best coach ever.

“Going into this game, I am sure we are more than ready and as I have alluded, we want to end this thing called a hoodoo, with the comment saying I am the second best coach; I personally say I am the best coach, I strongly believe I am the best of the best.”

Pirates, who lost against Mamelodi Sundowns, will have a chance to redeem themselves against Polokwane City.

Bucs coach, Milutin Sredojevic, says it will be a tactical match.

“They will look for a sort of vulnerability in us and points of danger to close. We shall look to find their sources of vulnerability and where there are dangerous. The points of danger we will close, the source of vulnerability we will expose.”

“This is an invisible match before the match in preparing every detail towards the players so that they could perform, give the best and produce what we are looking ford to and that is result.”

High-flying Bloemfontein Celtic will visit relegation-threatened Platinum Stars. Chippa United hosts Kaizer Chiefs in a tricky encounter.
