Team SA adds bowls silver to GC2018 tally

South Africa has won a silver medal in bowls at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (GC2018)Australia on Friday morning.

They lost in the final of the women’s pairs to Malaysia.

Colleen Piketh, already a bronze medallist in singles, teamed up with Nicolene Neal in the event.

South Africa will get another medal in wrestling on Friday, when Martin Erasmus takes on India’s Mausam Khatri in the gold medal match in the 97kg freestyle.

A number of others have qualified for finals. Phil-Mar Janse van Rebsurg is through in the javelin, and the men’s relay team are also through in the 4×100 relay.

On Friday night, Caster Semenya and Stephen Mokoka run in the 800 and 10 000 metre finals respectively. All three divers – Julia Vincent, Nicole Gillis and Micaela Bouter – are through to the final of the one metre springboard.
