Reading Time: 2 minutes

Team Dimension Data for Qubeka dominated the podium for stage 2 of Tour de Limpopo as Connor Brown and Alexander Konychev finished first and third respectively.

In second position on the second day from Polokwane to Tzaneen is Clint Hendricks of ProTouch.

Brown says they were encouraged by the teams performance yesterday where Konychev was second on the podium.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) sanctioned event contributes to rankings and the 20- year- old New Zealander admits points picked by Qubeka in the two days are really vital.

For Konychev, personal glory is not important as long as there is a rider from his team leading. This this the Italians first time at the Limpopo tour and he says it is different from races  in Europe.

Meanwhile Orion Craigue a yellow jersey contender did not finish the race as he had to be taken to a local hospital following a crash. The incident happened just before riders passed Moria on the R71.

Cycling South Africa General Manager Mike Bradley says Craigue was taken to hospital and they are grateful there was no broken bones.

Bradley however says this will change dynamics of the race in the last two days.

Stage 3 is 103km in and around Tzaneen on Friday. – Report by Lethabo Kganyago
