The devastating impact of the coronavirus in China has had a ripple effect across the world, including the South African tourism industry.
Africa Health Research Institute Deputy Director, Professor Thumbi Ndung’u, says although South Africa is prepared to deal with the coronavirus, the availability of resources needed to deal with such an epidemic might pose a challenge.
Health Minister, Dr. Zweli Mkhize, has reiterated that there are no cases of the Coronavirus in South Africa – saying an emergency operations centre has been opened should any cases be detected.
Government has sought to allay the fears of South Africans following the Novel Coronavirus outbreak, which has shaken the world and claimed at least 170 lives in China.
