SA rapper AKA has come out in support of the country’s students as they protest at some institutions of higher learning over various grievances.
Members of the Wits University student representative council are on the second day of a hunger strike. This is part of their protest over student accommodation and registrations.
The Student Representative Council at Wits University says it might have to engage government regarding returning students who are not allowed to register due to historical debt.
The majority of students at Wits University are continuing with their lectures but about 40 others are demonstrating over historic debt and the shortage of accommodation.
Wits remain top of the ABSA Premiership log, despite their loss to Kaizer Chiefs last night. Leonardo Castro and Hendrick Ekstein scored to give Chiefs a 2-0 victory, and to lift them to fifth position on the log.
