Westbury residents, west of Johannesburg have shut down the area. They are demanding that soldiers be deployed to fight alleged gangsterism in the area.
The City of Cape Town says all roads that were previously closed as a result of the shutdown protests have been re-opened.
Police have made several arrests at Bonteheuwel in Cape Town. Police have also used water cannon, stun grenades, rubber bullets and teargas to disperse protesting crowds in townships.
NEHAWU and various health union members including DENOSA and PSA have shut down the Kagiso District Health facility at Kuruman in the Northern Cape.
Residents of Galeshewe outside Kimberley say there is no going back anymore as the shutdown of the town continues and roads remain closed.
