The EFF at the Maluti-A-Phofung Municipality in Qwaqwa has vowed to ensure that those involved in corruption are prosecuted.
The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) has blamed corruption at a political level for alleged maladministration at municipalities – saying municipal managers are being forced to act wrongfully or risk losing their jobs.
The South African Municipal Workers’ Union says it intends to take the Auditor General’s reports to the Public Protector for investigation – after it was revealed that 239 out of 257 municipalities have not received clean audits.
More than 300 members of municipal union, SAMWU at Naledi municipality in Vryburg in the North West have shut down the municipal offices.
Department of Water and Sanitation workers affiliated to Samwu are currently being addressed by the eThekwini City manager at the Durban city hall.
