The African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Task Team met in Rustenburg in the North West to decide on the three names of candidates for the position of Premier in the province.
The challenges facing the ANC in the North West, seems to be deepening as both the recently reinstated Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and the Provincial Task Team (PTT), seem to be claiming legitimacy in running the affairs of the party in the province.
The ANC’s Rapid Response Team is expected in the North West this weekend to meet the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) which was disbanded by the National Executive Committee (NEC) in 2018, and the Provincial Task Team (PTT).
Former North West premier and African National Congress (ANC) provincial chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo, has withdrawn from the party’s Provincial Task Team.
African National Congress (ANC) divisions in the North West remain entrenched after opposing factions in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati regions, snubbed this weekend’s Provincial Task Team (PTT) meeting. They say they do not recognise the team headed by Premier Job Mokgoro.
