Transport Minister Blade Nzimande says the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa must account for the collision between two trains which happened at the Mountain View train station in Pretoria on Tuesday morning.

Letsoalo was removed from his position by the board of Prasa following allegations that he hiked his salary by 350% from R1.7 million to R5.9 million a year.

At the time it was a manual operation due to cable theft which hindered automatic signals.

A former PRASA train driver has won his battle against the passenger rail operator, after he was unfairly dismissed following a train accident last year.

Swifambo is appealing against a high court decision that set aside the multi-million rand contract for new locomotives that was awarded to the company.

A full bench of judges at the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein is expected to hear arguments on Thursday in a case between Swifambo Rail Agency and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa).
