The City of Cape Town says more than 97% of its residents in informal settlements have access to electricity.
Eskom will implement stage two load shedding starting from nine o’clock this morning till 10 in the evening.
Residents from Delmore Park and Jerusalem informal settlements in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg have blocked off Commissioner Street, a major route, with stones and burning tyres.
Several areas on Gauteng’s East Rand including Rabie Ridge, Phomolong and Mayibuye are without electricity.
Eskom must supply electricity to people who do not have the finances to pay for it. This according to Johannesburg’s ANC spokesperson Jolidee Matongo.
