Botswana’s newly inaugurated President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says his government’s fifth administration will focus on job creation and fighting corruption.
The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has again won the country’s general elections, after reaching the 29 parliamentary seat threshold.
Botswana’s Independent Electoral Commission says the counting of parliamentary votes is progressing well. Counting has been completed in five of the 57 constituencies.
Botswana president Mokgweetsi Masisi says he’s confident of a free and fair election as his country will be going to the polls on Wednesday.
The BDP which has governed the country since its independence in 1966, has faced fierce challenges from the opposition this year, after breaking ranks with its former leader Ian Khama.
