Suspect arrested for medical equipment fraud

A suspect who allegedly defrauded a medical equipment company of R460 million, is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crime Court on Thursday.

The suspect’s eleven luxury vehicles, motorbikes, seven immovable properties with their furniture, appliances and jewellery have been attached. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday following a three month investigation.

Police spokesperson Ndivhuwo Mulamu says, “It is alleged that the suspect, who was the accountant for the company duplicated the payments by transferring money into her late husband’s bank account and is facing charges of fraud, theft, and money laundering. We are still continuing our Investigation regarding this matter.”
