Supersport United breaks winless streak

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A second half Aubrey Modiba strike ensured Supersport United score a 1-nil win over Maritzburg United.

It was a huge strike as it broke an 8 match winless streak and started life for Matsatsantsa without CAF Confederations Cup top scorer Jeremy Brockie.

Supersport United started brightly and it took the hosts twenty minutes to get a shot on target.

The visitors continued to apply pressure, but entered the half time break without a goal.

The second half saw both teams pushing for the opener which seemed destined to belong to Modiba which eventually came to be in the 78th minute.

Despite a chance to equalise for the team of choice, Supersport United held on for the win.

Meanwhile, Bidvest Wits coach, Gavin Hunt, could land himself in hot water with the PSL after failing to honour the post-match media conference after a clash with Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

According to Wits manager, George Mogotsi, Hunt had other issues to attend. Under the PSL rules and regulations, coaches are obliged to attend the post match media conferences.

The game ended on a 1-all draw. The result entrenched Wits at the bottom of the log. On the other hand, Chippa are still in the top eight. Chippa coach, Teboho Moloi, is happy with the match’s result.
