SuperSport joins Chiefs and Sundowns in MTN 8 semis

SuperSport United secured a place in the semi-finals of the MTN 8 beating Orlando Pirates on penalties at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.

With the score tied at two-all, SuperSport’s keeper, Ronwen Williams saved a penalty in extra-time and the match went into the shoot-out, which SuperSport won 4-3.

Earlier, Kaizer Chiefs joined Mamelodi Sundowns in the last four when they hammered Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Goals in each half have handed Mamelodi Sundowns a convincing win, they cruised to a two-nil victory over Golden Arrows at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sibusiso Vilakazi broke the deadlock in the 40th minute while defender Wayne Arendse wrapped up matters in the 70th minute with a diving header to beat Nkosingiphile Gumede and seal victory.

The last quarterfinal match of the MTN 8 is on Sunday when Maritzburg United hosts Cape Town City at Harry Gwala Stadium.
