Sundowns gunning for 10th league title next season

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says his team will be gunning for the tenth league title next season.

Sundowns recently won their ninth title when they successfully defended their trophy after beating Free State Stars 1-0 in Bethlehem on Saturday.

It is also the Brazilians fourth title in six years. Mosimane believes they will have a better team next season.

Mosimane was assisted by Manqoba Mngqithi, Wendell Robinson and physical trainer Kabelo Rangoaga. He says he values their input.

Sundowns will offload many unhappy and inactive players in the off-season according to Mosimane.

The likes of Andile Jali, Lucky Mohomi, Jeremy Brockie, Aubrey Ngoma, Thela Ngobeni, Mogakolodi Ngele, Cuthbert Malajila, Ali Meza and many more are likely to leave the team.

Sundowns are accused of ruining many players’ careers.

The likes of Ngoma, Jali, Brockie, Meza and many others were signed by the PSL Champions but never really made an impact.

But the likes of Lebohang Maboe, Thapelo Morena, Lyle Lakay, Gaston Sirino and Mosa Lebusa have been regular players. Mosimane says they do not destroy careers.

Sundowns have also exported few players abroad in recent times.

They sold Bongani Zungu to Portuguese team Vitoria Guimaraes but currently playing for French team Amiens SC and Keagan Dolly to French team Montpellier and Percy Tau to English team Brighton and Hove Albion but on loan to Belgian team Royal-Saint Gulloise.

Mosimane says they want to create millionaires at Sundowns. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
