South Africa’s long-distance runner Gerda Steyn has set her eyes to one of the world’s major races, the 2019 New York Road Runners Marathon (NYRR), to be held on the 3rd of November.
With the remarkable recent two years Steyn had, winning among others the Two Ocean Marathon twice and the 2019 Comrades Marathon, the NYRR invite was no surprise for the 29-year-old Free State born runner. Steyn shares her feelings on being part of the race.
Having graced the same in 2018 and coming out in 14th position, Steyn says she will build up on last years’ experience.
She says she is setting her goals for a better position, with Top 10 or higher than that in mind.
There will be a number of quality top athletes from various corners of the world gunning for better positions in this race, but the 28-year-old believes in her strength.
