Springboks to take on Scotland on Saturday

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Springboks will take on the formidable Scots at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, on Saturday, for the third test match of their end-of-year tour. Last Saturday ,the Boks secured a 29-26 win over France, following their one -point- loss to England in the 2018 Outgoing Tour opener two weeks ago. However, they will clash with Scotland with a very good head-to-head record.

The Springboks pride themselves on a physical forward pack that can dominate, but in the first ten minutes against France they lost a number of key battles at the breakdowns.

Boks head coach, Rassie Erasmus, says no matter how confident they are, Scotland is quite a tough hurdle to jump over.

“We will have another big test, Gregory is a coach I’ve coached against for months, and four times in one season so I know how he coach, his style of coaching, his team is a very fit team, an organised team so it’s definitely a team that puts pressure throughout the game, I know I’ve coached against him a lot of times to know, so it’s really going to be a tough test,” says Erasmus.

Assistant coach, Matt Proudfoot, says the French out-muscled them in this department and he believes Scotland will be even better this weekend in Edinburgh.

“Scotland are probably a lot better than France at the contact points, where the French were more physical the Scots are a lot more sharper and intelligent. The challenge will be different and the pace of our game we will have to keep it up against Scotland,” says  Proudfoot.

Both teams’ 23-man squads will be announced on Thursday. The match will start at 19:20 South African time.
