Springboks out for redemption against Japan

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Springboks flyhalf, Handre Pollard says their focus is just on winning Sunday’s quarterfinal clash.

Pollard was a member of the Springbok team that lost to Japan in the previous World Cup.

“Four years ago was a complete different story, different world cup. The guys who were part of the game in 2015 properly learned the mistakes we made, hopefully we can improve on that.”

The Springboks have put memories of this loss behind them and are firmly focused on their quarter-final clash to be played at the Tokyo stadium on Sunday.

The hosts have been one of the exciting teams to watch during the tournament with their passionate supporters behind them.

And the Brave Blossoms will fancy their chances against the Springboks with a semifinal place in sight.

Bok assistant coach, Mzwandile Stick, says they just need to be switched on and play their brand of rugby.

“The thing with the Japan side, they play with high tempo, they have very skillful players. We have to make sure that we are well organised.”
