Springboks assistant coach Mzwandile Stick says the Springboks will be prepared to counter Namibia’s expected high-tempo game as the two Africa teams meet in their second Pool B clash of the 2019 Rugby World Cup on Saturday.
South Africa come in on the back of their unsavory 23-13 defeat at the hands of New Zealand while Namibia will also be looking for their opening victory at the tournament following their 47-22 loss to Italy.
The backline skills specialist, Stick, adds that they believe they have selected the perfect team for the African derby.
Springboks captain on the day Schalk Brits, who came out of retirement to make the World Cup squad just in time, says it will be a massive honor to lead the side in the clash.
The 38-year-old says they are also looking forward to rewriting their wrongs from their defeat to the All Blacks.
Asked about the decision to play Brits at eighth-man for Saturday’s clash, Stick explained that the idea was preplanned even before the Rugby World Cup.
The former Blitzboks captain, Stick, adds that they are looking forward to giving other players some game time.
Springboks flanker Francious Louw, who is likely to play against former teammate at the Stormers and Western Province in Namibia’s flank forward Rohan Kitshoff, says they are aware of the good rugby players Namibia have. – Report by Thando Gqamane
