Soweto chef brings French cuisine home

Soweto born chef Wandile Mabaso has honed his cooking skills at some of the world-renowned institutions in South Africa, America and France.

Mabaso is back home to tease the South African palate with his strong French cuisine expertise.

The Soweto born chef says he started cooking at a young age imitating his mother’s food.

Mabaso, who specialises in French cuisine says, “The cuisine is refined, the ingredients we use worldwide are the same is just the different technique and approach that we use to cook them and I think the French have been doing it for a long time and I think they have refined it.”

He says what attracts him a lot about French cuisine is the best ingredients they have. “It’s the most advanced cuisine.”
