The Director-General of Arts and Culture, Vusi Mkhize has urged South Africans to embrace one another to become a more inclusive society.

He was speaking prior to the start of the National Heritage Day event in Kokstad, KwaZulu-Natal.

Dozens of people – several clad in traditional attire – have begun arriving at the Riverview stadium for the event.

Deputy President David Mabuza will deliver the keynote address.

Mkhize says today represents the celebration of unity in diversity.

“All cultures need to embrace and be more of an inclusive society. This aims to continue to celebrate these diverse cultures but also to educate about them, tolerance, love, care and being able to accept one another regardless of backgrounds,” adds Mkhize.
