The Solidarity trade union has reiterated that the debacle on the school teacher from Laerskool Schweizer Reneke in the  North West, who had been suspended for racial reasons, was all just a misunderstanding and political parties have used this incident to gain popularity among South Africans.

However, President of the Black Centric Forum Sizwe Mapindlani says the whole incident is very unfortunate as the picture serves as a reminder of how segregated black people were during the apartheid era. He states that there is apartheid still continuing today.

The trade union has now taken the issue to court first to reverse the suspension of the teacher and also restore dignity to the teacher’s name as they believe no reasons were given for the suspension.
