The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley is confident that it will meet its deadline to restore water supply to the city by midnight on Sunday.
Kimberley has been without water since Friday morning. The municipality is conducting yet another major upgrade to the city’s network.
The municipality says it’s well on track with the upgrade. It has put water tanks around the city.
“We are satisfied with the work that has been done thus far, and hopefully purification process will start, and once that starts, it will then take us about six hours to fill the reservoirs of Riverton themselves, and thereafter we will start the process of pumping through to the city,” says Municipal spokesperson Sello Matsie.
