Sizwe Vilakazi’s family still shocked by his death

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The family of Sizwe Vilakazi, the Head of legal services at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), says they are still struggling to come to terms with his murder.

It is alleged that three armed men entered his business premises in Tsakane east of Johannesburg at the weekend and shot him five times.

They then fled the scene without taking anything.

Vilakazi was hired as a Senior Legal Advisor in 2008 by the SABC.

He was appointed Head of Legal Services in September last year.

His sister, Nandi Vilakazi says, “We are so shocked. I was preparing to take a bath and my father called me and he said call an ambulance Sizwe was shot. I rushed there, I think it took me 5 minutes to go to the scene and when I arrived he was lying on the floor motionless. I was not even sure whether he was breathing. I tried to call the paramedics. The first one declared him dead on the scene. But I kept on insisting that please try again but they did and apparently he was gone and we are so shocked.”
