The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is forecasting severe thunderstorms for parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Free State provinces.
Heavy rainfall is also expected over the Cape south coast which could lead to localised flooding.

This comes in the wake of a tornado that hit the Mpolweni area near New Hanover in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.
In Gauteng, there’s a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers following rainfall overnight.
Forecaster Jan Vermeulen says, “We also have a high fire danger over the northern and north eastern parts of Northern Cape and extreme western parts of North West and extreme north-western parts of the Free State today.”
