Seshego residents express concerns over service delivery

Reading Time: 2 minutes

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa’s taken his election campaign to the Limpopo’s largest township, Seshego. He’s promised to alleviate some of the social ills facing residents there.

Crime, unemployment and lack of decent housing are just some of the challenges they face.

Some residents of Seshego Limpopo have expressed concerns over what they call poor service delivery in the area.  They were interacting with African National Congress president Cyril Ramaphosa during his election campaign in the area.

Home to Julius Malema, Seshego is an EFF stronghold. The area is, however, notorious for violent community protests and shutdowns.

“They told me there a problem of lack of water, electricity. They want us to electrify their house. They’re also complaining about crime. They say Seshego is riddled with thugs; they want crime to go away,” Ramaphosa says.

Earlier, the president interacted with residents over services delivery matters.

A lady saying she is happy that she is now seeing the president face to face and not on TV and also appealing to the president to address all their challenges.

Ramaphosa also addressed hundreds of party followers in Moletjie, West of Polokwane.

One of the residents told the president she might not vote in the May elections.

“ But if after every year, you come and check the people; you hired in the departments to see how  they are working and check on our concerns, every five years, you will be able to know where you made mistakes. Right  now it’s too late, the 8th is just around the corner. I am not sure if I will vote, I am always voting and I vote after every five years and I don’t see any difference. My problem is if I vote for another party I will see any difference. They will say they are still correcting mistakes done by ANC. It will be repetition of correcting mistakes.”
