A wave of violent service delivery protest has engulfed different parts of Limpopo.

On Wednesday morning residents blockaded roads with burning tyres and other barricades in Homu and Mapayeni villages on the outskirts of Giyani.

There are similar protests in Rotterdam village outside Giyani and Ntoane village outside Bronkhorstpruit in the Sekhukhune district.

Residents are demanding water and tarred roads.

The community spokesperson at Homu and Mapayeni villages Justice Rikhotso says they have had enough of the empty promises by the municipalities and the provincial government.

Rikhotso says they were promised improved water supply and a tarred road but the situation has not changed.

Authorities have not yet issued a comment.

The situation remains tense.
