Senegal leaves it late to dim Black Stars

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Senegal went top of Group C after coming back from behind to beat the Black Stars of Ghana 2-1 at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament currently underway in Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break after a penalty converted by stand-in captain Andre Ayew in their opening Group C fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations in Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea, on Monday evening. But Senegal fought back early in the second half with Stoke City forward Mame Biram Diouf finding the equaliser. The rebound bounced back to him and he headed into an empty net to draw level.

Senegal had Moussa Sow to thank as they ran out 2-1 winners less than 30 seconds from the end.

The win takes the Lions of Teranga to the top of the standings with three points.

South Africa and Algeria kick-off at 9pm (SA time) in the other Group C match.
