Organisers of Sunday’s IAAF Diamond League meeting in Rabat in Morocco, have made a u-turn and extended an invitation to South Africa’s 800 metres Olympic Games gold medalist and World Champion, Caster Semenya.

Organisers refused her entry on Tuesday, but on Wednesday, the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland rejected an urgent request by the IAAF to have its controversial new ruling reinstated pending the outcome of Semenya’s appeal hearing before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

The ruling the federation wants to introduce, will prevent female athletes with high testosterone levels from competing internationally in events between 400 metres and a mile.

After a meeting earlier Friday, the organisers said they were happy to confirm that Semenya had been invited to take part in the 800 metres race.
