Semenya nominated for Female World Athlete of the year

World athletics’ governing body, the IAAF, has announced the nominees for the Female World Athlete for the year 2018. And once again, South Africa’s golden girl Caster Semenya has made the cut.

The 10 nominees for Female World Athlete of the Year were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of the IAAF.

Semenya was unbeaten over 800 metres this year and won gold at the Commonwealth Games, African Championships, the Diamond League final and Continental Cup.

She is also the Commonwealth champion over 1500 metres and African 400 metres champion.

She currently holds the world leading times in the 800 and 1000 metres distances.

The winner of the Female Athlete of the Year Award will be announced in Monaco on Tuesday December 4.
