A second case of cholera has been detected in the Blouberg area in Limpopo. The Health Department says a farmworker, who had recently visited his home in Zimbabwe, has been positively diagnosed with cholera.

Another farmworker, who also had visited his home country, started showing symptoms and had to be admitted recently.

Health Department spokesperson Neil Shikwambana says the diagnosis was confirmed at a local clinic.

“We can confirm as the department that indeed a second case of cholera has been confirmed in the Blouberg municipal area, the same place where the first case was confirmed and the circumstances are more or less the same. The case involves a Zimbabwean migrant worker who is working at one of the game farms around that area, he recently visited home and upon returning, he felt unwell visited the clinic where he was transferred to hospital.”
