Sassa, Post Office sign implementation deal

A social grant payment Implementation Protocol has been signed between social security agency, Sassa, and the South African Post Office as part of a final agreement.

This is according to the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) chaired by Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe.

Briefing a Joint Committee of Scopa and Social Development, Radebe says the implementation protocol was signed four days ago.

He says it forms part of an agreement under the Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act of 2005.

“The implementation protocol was concluded and signed between Sassa and Sapo and by myself on behalf of the IMC and this happened last Friday. This protocol allows Sapo to provide Sassa by the 1st of April 2018 subject to cost effectiveness of the following, the corporate control account, the holding account, the special disbursement account. The card body production and distribution subject to price competitiveness and on boarding of new beneficiaries, the instant account opening and card issuance at Sassa branches and biometrics authentication of beneficiaries,” says Radebe
