The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), along with the United Nations and other authorities, are preparing to receive the remains of Private Moalosi Albert Mokhotu.

The South African soldier was killed during a gun fight with rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo last week.

SANDF Spokesperson Xolani Mabanga says everything is in order for the ceremony on Friday.

After the SANDF has received that body it will then formally hand over the mortal remains to the family for the preparation of the funeral

“South African National Defence Force elements from the one para batallion, were he belonged, together with officials from the South African National Defence Force will receive Albert’s mortal remains ceremoniously, which will take place, meaning that the member will be received as a hero at the Airforce Base Waterkloof on Friday.”

Mabanga says, “After the SANDF has received that body it will then formally hand over the mortal remains to the family for the preparation of the funeral.”
