Cape Town audiences have been promised an incredible and emotional theatre experience as part of Heritage month celebrations.

The production, “Karoo Suite/Katrina will be staged on Wednesday at Artscape.

The organisers say 85-year-old Granny Katrina Esau from Upington pulls the heart strings when she tells her touching life story in her own voice and language.

The combination of Katrina’s voice, Coenie de Villiers’ indigenous music score, and traditional dance from the San community are said to create a special and unforgettable theatrical experience.

Granny Katrina is the last fluent speaker of the ancient San Language Nluu.

The first part of the show consists of stories from the Karoo told by thriller author, Deon Meyer and backed with original music by De Villiers and band.
