Reading Time: < 1 minute

The South African Federation of Trade Unions (Saftu) will be holding May Day rallies across the country on Tuesday.

Their main rally will kick off in Bloemfontein at the Madiba Arena, University of the Free State at 10 o’clock.

Saftu will also be holding rallies in Durban, Port Elizabeth, Limpopo as well as Cape Town.

Saftu spokesperson Patrick Craven says they want to reach out to Cosatu who are also holding May Day rallies across the country to reunite the trade union movement.

“May Day is a traditional day for workers organisations to meet and we are following that tradition. It is a day when we celebrate traditions and victories and many of the Saftu ones are being held in doors and we don’t regard the workers in the Cosatu demonstrations as our enemy and on the contrary we want to reach out to them and try to reunite the trade union movement.”
