The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) says it condemns the assassination of Bongani Cola.
Cola was the leader of the Democratic Municipal and Allied Workers Union of South Africa ( Demawusa) in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in the Eastern Cape.
SAFTU says in a statement that Cola was shot dead in front of his children. The Union says that Nelson Mandela Bay has become the silent field of killings in South Africa.
The trade union says Cola was leaving home for work when he was shot. His possessions and car were not stolen.
SAFTU has called on the SAPS to leave no stone unturned in finding Cola’s killers. The union has also passed on their deepest condolences to Cola’s family.
